Welcome

Welcome to Bar 3 Quarter Horses. Our ranch is located in the North Cascade Mountains in the Pacific Northwest, 2 miles Northeast of Darrington, Washington, on the wild and scenic Sauk River. Robin's family settled here on the Sauk Prairie in the early 1900's and the ranch is part of that original homestead. We do a lot of riding right from the ranch and are less than an hour away from a number of trails in the Glacier Peak Wilderness area. In a days ride we can actually be on the East side of the Cascades in Eastern Washington.

At the ranch we run between 30 and 40 head of horses and a few mules. We offer for sale started ranch geldings and mares, mare/foal packages, weanlings, yearlings, and started two year old colts/geldings and fillies. All of our stock is ranched raised and enjoy visitors coming out and scratching and petting them. It is a real treat to be surrounded by beautiful animals and gorgeous scenery at the same time. We also have a nice indoor riding arena that we enjoy year round for training and spending time with friends and clients. In the spring the 10-stall mare barn is full of anxious mares and sleep deprived friends and family waiting for the babies. With a cup of coffee and the morning sun we can sit on the deck and watch them run and play. The afternoons are spent on the other side of the house with the stallions. They anxiously await the day that the mare and foal come to visit. We only do live cover or pasture breeding rotating mares in adjoining corrals during heat cycle. We do not offer shipped semen. We do not prescribe to any specific training or horse handling philosophy we feel all of them have something to offer. There are 50 different ways to break colts. Ours is a little of this and little of that and a lot of what my dad taught me.

We raise AQHA Foundation bred Duns, Roans, and Grullos ranch horses. Our stallions and mares carry Poco Buenos, Joe Hancock, Blue Valentine, Leo, Music Mount, Mr. San Peppy, and Shinning Spark bloodlines. You have your choice of line bred AQHA/NFQH Poco Bruno/Music Mount grullo stallion, line bred Blue Valentine/Joe Hancock blue roan stallion or a performance red dun Son of Shine Like Hail, 1999 Reserve World Champion Cow Horse by Shinning Spark. Our horses are good boned, good minded, and have lots of color.

Visitors Always Welcome,
Robin and Don Wood
